What Youll Do (AKA: Your Superpowers)
Deliver Culinary Excellence:

Assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting meals that meet residents' nutritional needs and preferences.

Follow recipes and menus developed by the Dietary Director or Executive Chef while offering your own creativity and flair.

Maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation across all meals and services.

Lead in the Kitchen:

Support day-to-day kitchen operations including food prep, line service, and cleanup.

Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff during shifts, helping to ensure efficient, high-quality service.

Step in to lead when the Dietary Director or Executive Chef is unavailable.

Ensure Quality, Safety & Compliance:

Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines in accordance with local, state, and federal food service regulations.

Monitor food storage, preparation, and service areas for cleanliness and order.

Help maintain documentation for food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and dietary modifications.

Create a Positive Dining Experience:

Collaborate with caregivers, nursing staff, and other departments to accommodate special diets and meal requests.

Build warm relationships with residents and make dining a highlight of their day.

Support themed meals, events, and celebrations that bring fun to the table.

What You Bring to the Table (Besides Culinary Skills)
Education & Certifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Culinary training or certification preferred.

ServSafe or food handler certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Experience & Leadership:

12 years of professional cooking experience, ideally in a senior living, healthcare, or hospitality environment.

Experience supervising or training kitchen staff is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong cooking skills with attention to detail, consistency, and presentation.

Knowledge of modified diets, allergies, and food safety procedures.

Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
