Distribution III - Fiber (1st Shift) (Architecture)



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned.

Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.

Load, unload, and move product or materials both with hands and/or equipment, when applicable. Move product and materials to and from storage or production areas, warehouse areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and/or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment. Move products from the warehouse onto a truck/tractor-trailer/rail car and remove any returned pallets/plastic flats. Unload raw materials and place such materials in designated warehouse space.

Perform various activities related to the tracking and recording of production runs such as product labeling, marking, stamping and/or numbering.

Collect or prepare measurement, weight, or identification labels and attach them to products and attach indentifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.  Compare product labels, tags or tickets, shipping manifests, purchase orders, and bills of lading to verify accuracy of shipment contents, quality specifications and/or weights.

Work from Electronic order system or order sheets to build loads using a forklift and/or electronic pallet jack. Hand builds pallets of product(s) or builds loads of products.  Follow warehouse instructions in building loads. Select designated products and loading them onto a pallet. Maintain the stability of the pallet through proper stacking and shrink-wrapping. Unload returned products and pallets/plastic flats.

Record numbers of units handled or moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.

Ensure accuracy in loading and complying with shipper/receiver documentation.

Safely operate various warehouse equipment including forklifts, stock pickers, and pallet jacks to accurately move product to appropriate warehouse location to stage and stock product to maximize efficiency for order selection in warehouse locations

Utilize ERP's warehouse management application to ensure inventory accuracy and control. Replenish pick lines with product and update locations and stock correct warehouse locations. May be required to assist with monthly inventory of products and/or maintenance of inventory records.

Complete various reports or records and submit them to the appropriate parties. Complete production reports and records in compliance with any company or regulatory requirements. 

Follow established policies, processes and guidelines in receiving and distributing products/materials. Document quantity, quality, weight, and value of materials or products, in order to maintain shipping records and files. 

Follow work standards and processes, and work within the parameters of established standards.

Coordinate work activities and information with other Departments or Units.

Maintain a safe and clean work area.

Train other shipping and receiving personnel.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and over three (3) months up to and including six (6) months working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment, working with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets using pallet jacks or industrial powered trucks; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions. Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning and labeling software.

Location may require powered industrial truck certification

This position requires specific knowledge in the following areas to be successful:

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods within a warehouse via powered industrial truck, hand truck, hoist or hand.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

It requires the use of hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials/equipment and manipulating products/materials. It also requires the ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, or standing. It does involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.

It also requires a good sense of balance, good eye-hand-foot coordination, the ability to assess weights and judge distance and heights, the ability to know one's location in relation to the environment or to know where other objects are in relation to the person (spatial ability), and the ability to choose quickly between two or more movements in response to two or more different signals (lights, sounds, pictures), including the speed with which the correct response is started with the hand, foot, or other body part (response orientation).
