Finance Manager - Retail - Commercial - Hybrid (Finance)



This position is located in Stillwater, Minnesota. This role is Hybrid with 3 days per week on site in Stillwater, MN, and 2 remote days.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Finance Manager serves as a key financial partner to support the merchandising, marketing, and sales channel leads. This role will be responsible for understanding and analyzing sales, product margins, and SG&A/marketing spend for relevant commercial departments. The role is responsible for forecasting, setting budgets, tracking actuals, and performing basic variance analysis. The manager will assist the merchant team find ways to increase margin by understanding how to structure and drive price, volumes and cost programs across different product categories.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a strategic finance partner to Sales and Merchandising leadership.
  • Deliver actionable financial insights, forecasts, and performance analysis to support commercial strategy.
  • Develop and manage reports that provide key insights for the Retail leadership team.
  • Lead core financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
  • Translate complex data into meaningful recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with merchandising, operations, and supply chain teams.
  • Identify performance improvement opportunities and drive execution.
  • Develop and implement scalable financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools.
  • Support the monthly close reporting process including analysis, consolidation and P&L reporting down to store level.
  • Analyze, question and present financial information to the Retail leadership team.
  • Execute on special projects timely and accurately as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education/ Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, a related field, or equivalent experience is required.

Experience:
  • 5-10 years of relevant finance and FP&A experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience directly supporting an operational leader.
  • Leadership experience in finance roles within retail, grocery, or related industries.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle), financial reporting tools (e.g., Essbase), and dashboarding platforms (e.g., Tableau).
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to work through ambiguity.
  • Strong communication and business partnering capabilities.
  • Adaptability and resilience in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • High technical acumen and comfort working with incomplete or unstructured data.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

WORK ENVIORNMENT

Hybrid Role:

  • This position follows a hybrid schedule working in office () days per week. The acceptable split between onsite
    and remote work is determined by the manager. Hybrid associates may choose to work from an office on a more
    frequent basis than required.

Travel (Minor):
  • This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

Office Roles:

  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbents may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Incumbents may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment during a normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.
