IAE Engineer II (Finance)

POSITION SUMMARY:
\n
The RF and Electronics Engineer is a direct contributor and team leader with expertise in RF system design, electronic hardware development, PCB design and manufacturing, IoT systems, and enabling technologies. This position contributes to applied research, prototyping, system integration, and demonstration of advanced RF and electronic systems. The engineer supports one or more projects that demand multidisciplinary experience in the design, test, validation, and operation of RF and electronic systems, and leads engineering teams in the conduct of such work in a collaborative environment. As an IAE Engineer II, this individual may also contribute to the oversight and mentoring of junior engineers and interns, the review of work products, interfacing with customers and stakeholders, advising IAE leadership and staff to ensure successful completion of projects and contracts, coordination and contribution to documentation, and participation in interviews, hiring, and evaluation of junior engineers. The RF and Electronics Engineer must have deep experience in RF and electronic system design, PCB development, integration of IoT technologies, and testing across a wide frequency range. In-depth hands-on experience with engineering principles consistent with formal education, training, and practical application in RF, electronics, and embedded systems is required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
\n
Applicants must be eligible for a TS/SCI security clearance.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline, and three or more years of relevant experience. Specific qualification includes:
\n
• A current SECRET security clearance.
\n
• Experience in systems development lifecycle frameworks (e.g., Agile, V model, and Waterfall model) applied to RF/electronics projects (requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, and delivery).
\n
• Hands-on experience with PCB design (Altium preferred), manufacturing, and testing at low and high frequencies.
\n
• Experience with RF system design, integration, and testing of systems across 1Hz - ≥18GHz.
\n
• Proficiency with spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and RF test environments.
\n
• Self-starter with outstanding analytic and problem-solving skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills.
\n

Preferred: An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field and/or five or more years of relevant engineering or technical experience.
\n
Other preferred skills and experience include:
\n
• A current TS/SCI security clearance.
\n
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design and testing for standards compliance.
\n
• Experience with interdisciplinary team leadership and project integration across RF, hardware, and IoT domains.
\n
• Proficiency with research methods, prototyping, and system integration.
\n
• Experience with RF/IoT testing, including frequency response characterization and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
\n
• Experience in system-level design for defense-related RF and electronic systems. • Knowledge and experience working within the Department of Defense ecosystem.
\n
• Technical and managerial experience including preparing engineering proposals, facilitating customer communications, leading and mentoring engineering personnel, and project planning, tracking, and oversight.
\n

The RF and Electronics Engineer is a senior technical contributor and lead for projects and a multidisciplinary team of engineers. Specific responsibilities include:
\n
• Leads a team in conceptual design, development, fabrication, testing, documentation, and delivery of projects related to RF, electronic systems research and technology development.
\n
• Works with engineering leadership and leads junior engineers and interns on assigned project tasks.
\n
• Coordinates administrative tasks required for performance of project development tasks, including management of contract deliverables, procurement of project materials and equipment, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
\n
• May serve as a Technical Lead on one or more projects as required.
\n
• Reviews work products and artifacts produced by junior engineers and interns.
\n
• Interfaces with stakeholders external to USF/IAE as needed to include: presenting technical briefings, reporting on projects and deliverables, supporting business development, and similar stakeholder activities.
\n
• Advises IAE leadership and staff to help ensure projects align with the IAE strategic plan and make optimal operational decisions related to delivering on projects and contracts.
\n
• Coordinates the writing of technical documentation to include: status reports, requirements documents, statements of work, design documents, technical proposals, and similar documentation.
\n
• May participate in engineering staff interviews, hiring decisions, and evaluates junior engineers. Apply
