Histology Technician On Call (Finance)



We are currently seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our dedicated team. This is a crucial role in the care of patients by preparing and processing tissue samples for analysis. This is an exciting opportunity to utilize your technical skills and contribute to the overall well-being of our patients.

Hiring pay range, dependent on experience and qualifications: $33.06 - $47/hr. Differential of $3/hour from 2:30am to 6:00am. Differential of 5% for on call status.

The on-call Histotechnician position will need to cover Monday-Friday, for varied shifts. The shifts may start as early as 3:00 a.m. up to 8:00 a.m.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and prepare tissue samples for examination under the microscope.
  • Performs embedding and microtomy of tissue blocks to produce high quality tissue sections.
  • Performs routine H&E staining, IHC and special staining procedures.
  • Prepares correct reagents and solutions utilized in procedure.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and perform tests on tissue samples.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procedures and results
  • Ensure the proper disposal of hazardous materials and adhere to safety protocols
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and techniques in histology

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Graduate of an accredited Histotechnician (HT) orHistotechnologist (HTL) program preferred.
  • HT (ASCP) or HLT (ASCP) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year experience as a Histology Tech required.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g. face mask, goggles, gloves) as needed.
  • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in operating laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

Pay Range:
$32.41 - $48.62

PTO and Personal Time accruals are pro-rated by FTE/hours worked. Non-benefits eligible employees will accrue Personal Time based on hours worked and State worked.
