Process Engineer (Engineering)



 

Position Overview:

 

The Treatment & Recovery Process Engineer will be responsible for evaluating process operations and play a critical role in optimizing system performance, supporting site operators and ensuring consistent treatment quality across locations.   Under the direction of the Director, Process Operations & Efficiency, the Process Engineer will utilize engineering skills and principles to address process issues within the LES Treatment & Recovery network, evaluate the process and recommend process changes and improvements. This position is “hands-on” and will drive continuous process improvement and establish standard operating excellence throughout the Treatment & Recovery facilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead and support process design, optimization, and troubleshooting for FOG separation systems and related wastewater treatment units.
  • Monitor and assess treatment system performance; identify opportunities for improvement or cost savings.
  • Partner with local operations teams to ensure consistent adherence to process standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct process audits, implement best practices, and recommend equipment or process upgrades.
  • Assist with commissioning and start-up activities at new or upgraded treatment sites.
  • Collect and analyze operational data (flows, temperatures, pressures, separation efficiency, etc.).
  • Ensure process documentation is accurate and updated across sites.
  • Collaborate with engineering, compliance, and EH&S teams to maintain operational integrity and safety.
  • Support T&R's Capital Plan, providing process evaluation and expertise to support developing project scope for the T&R facilities.
  • Provide summary reports providing process evaluation and recommendations to Treatment and Recovery Management and Site Management.
  • Compiles and analyzes various reports for decision making, management reporting and compliance.
  • Completes all documents and reports as required.
  • Facilitates good customer service at all levels
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, vendors and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • While at operating sites, all activities should be performed in compliance with Company and site safety guidelines and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations at all times.
  • Coordinates with other Liquid Environmental Solutions departments.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Engineering Management Experience (preferred)
  • 3 - 5 years of Industrial Process Engineering
  • Process operations experience desired

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience working with other departments and facilities.
  • Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, Project
  • Experience with Access, PowerPoint and Outlook a plus. Proven leadership skills
  • Cost and risk management skills
  • Self-starter
  • Time Management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

Working Environment:

  • There are no special physical requirements for this position.
  • General office conditions
  • Some light lifting and bending
  • Periods of sitting
  • Evening and/or weekend work hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
  • Travel to project site
