IAE Data Analyst / Accounting Operations Internship (Special Operations Financial Management Directorate) - Fall 2025 (Finance)



SOFM Mission

Advise Commander USSOCOM & Staff, Components & TSOCs on all financial management matters. Prepare, submit, and defend all budget products. Analyze Congressional appropriations, the Command's funding execution, and support fiscal auditability. We will utilize a strategy-to-resource integration approach across the Planning, Programming, Budget, and Execution (PPBE) process.

Section: Financial Systems Integration Division

Position: Data Analyst/Accounting Operations Intern

Education: Undergraduate Sophomore pursing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Economics, Business, Finance, Data Analytics, or similar career field.

Time Commitment/Work Location

The time commitment is 15-20 hours per week.

The primary work location at MacDill, Air Force Base, Tampa, FL.

Rate of Pay: $17.50/hourQualifications:

  • Because this position is partially funded by the Department of Defense, candidates must have U.S. Citizenship.
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree at a local accredited University with a Sophomore standing.
  • Must have the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations
  • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Clear communication, both written and verbal, and presentation capabilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively
  • Must have a personal commitment to working with diverse clientele and colleagues

Visit the Central Human Resources ADA Accommodations webpage for more information on requesting an accommodation during the application/interview process.Duties and Responsibilities: Data analyst/Accounting Operations intern primary duties include assisting with United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) financial systems requirements used for the formulation, execution, and/or analysis of the Command's resources, and working with other organizations and agencies to perform systems integration activities.
  • Attend meetings (e.g., team/staff syncs).
  • Data gathering with stakeholder to collect user's requirement for the database/reporting tool, publish, validate, and communicate requirements
  • Participates in requirements working groups
  • Organize data, create visualizations, and make recommendations to draw conclusions, make predictions, and drive informed decision
  • Help design and create visual charts/images to represent results of data analysis, and automate manual processes
  • Learn how to use Data Analytics tools, e.g., Advance Analytics (ADVANA), Power BI, to synthesize data management and informational tools
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) guides to document processes
  • Brief leadership on products, and recommendations
  • Maintain a journal outlining internship experiences.
  • Brief to leadership an overview of the internship experience and the projects completed during the semester
