Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Architecture)



The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will oversee and improve the manufacturing processes within our industrial production facility. This role involves leading a team of manufacturing engineers to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure high-quality standards while maintaining safety and compliance. This role will also oversee new product introductions and all projects related to the manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing manufacturing engineering teams, strong problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of advanced manufacturing technologies.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, focusing on reducing cycle time, minimizing defects, and improving yield and throughput.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other efficiency techniques to optimize production.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production lines, recommending improvements to resolve process inefficiencies and enhance overall output.
  • Oversee the introduction of new products, manufacturing technologies equipment and systems to enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and safety within the engineering team.
  • Set team goals aligned with department objectives, and ensure timely delivery of projects to meet production deadlines and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with production, quality, supply chain, and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations and support manufacturing initiatives.
  • Act as a key point of contact for resolving engineering-related issues and ensuring technical support for daily operations.
  • Participate in cross-departmental meetings to coordinate the introduction of new products, processes, and technologies.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes meet quality standards and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the quality department to implement corrective actions and prevent reoccurrence of process-related defects.
  • Establish and maintain a system for process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process maps.
  • Plan and lead capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, including the evaluation, selection, and installation of new equipment.
  • Manage engineering projects, from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with cost and timeline objectives.
  • Develop, track, and manage project budgets for engineering and manufacturing improvement projects.
  • Use data analytics to track production performance, first pass yield, identify key trends, and make data-driven decisions for process improvements.
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor manufacturing process effectiveness and ensure alignment with business goals.

Required Qualifications:

Must have a Bachelor's degree (STEM) AND 6+ years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline OR a Master's degree (STEM) AND 4+ years' experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Must have 3+ years of management or leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including machining, fabrications, assembly, and testing
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams.
