I-9 Compliance Specialist (Finance)



I-9 Compliance Specialist with E-Verify Experience

Position Overview: Highly skilled I-9 Compliance Specialist with extensive experience in E-Verify to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal regulations regarding employment eligibility verification, including the use of E-Verify to confirm the legal work status of employees.

The I-9 & E-Verify Compliance Specialist will be responsible for all aspects off the Company's compliance with USCIS guidelines for I-9 and E-Verify. The Specialist serves as the subject matter expert and point of contact for I-9 Administrators throughout the company regarding the compliant completion of the I-9 Sections 1 and 2, Supplement B, and E-Verify cases through the Company's third-party system. This position is required to provide excellent service to Human Resources and business leaders requesting assistance with I-9 verification and associated transactions, while maintaining Service Level Agreements and meeting USCIS compliance requirements. The position is required to meet Employee Services Center quality standards with expert and efficient customer service techniques, and the timely and accurate use of I-9 administration process resources .

  • Hybrid: 2-3 days in person required

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and Verification: Examine I-9 forms and identity documents for accuracy and authenticity, ensuring compliance with U.S. Department of Homeland Security guidelines and USCIS.
  • E-Verify Processing: Create and manage E-Verify cases for new hires, ensuring timely and accurate submission
  • Compliance Monitoring: Stay updated on changes to immigration laws and regulations, and ensure all processes adhere to current legal requirements
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and organized records of all verifications and any issues encountered. Additionally, tracking expiring work authorization documents, and communicate deadlines for the completion of reverification to employees and HR. Support legal requests and oversee compilation of all documentation requirements for USCIS and DHS audits.
  • Vendor Management: Work directly with vendor to ensure proper operation of systems related to I-9 & E-Verify tasks
  • Employee Communication: Communicate with employees to collect necessary documents and information, and conduct remote meetings to complete the verification process
  • Training and Support: Provide training and support to HR staff on I-9 compliance procedures and best practices, including E-Verify
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in HR compliance or a related role, with specific experience in E-Verify processes
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem resolution, analytic ability, excellent organizational skills, and effective communication abilities.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with federal immigration laws and regulations, particularly those related to I-9 compliance and E-Verify
