Position Summary:

The simulation educator position will teach in the skills lab and facilitate and debrief simulation activities to support the College of Nursing Simulation Programs. This position supports student success by creating an inclusive environment to learn and practice essential nursing and healthcare skills and improve critical thinking.

Position may require rotating work schedule and have the ability to travel to other USF campuses and/or other locations as required and on weekends. This position will report to the Assistant Director of Simulation Education.Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Experience may not substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Two years of professional experience in nursing, healthcare or related discipline in higher education setting, or another related clinical experience
  • Must be eligible to practice and maintain licensure as an RN and/or APRN in the state of Florida as required for the position

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a healthcare simulation environment OR two years in an academic institution with demonstrable organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Experience in simulation with operation of high, medium, and low fidelity task trainers and mannequins, simulation software, or scenario development.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
  • Knowledge of simulation center accreditation.

Learn more at www.usf.edu .50% Plan and implement learning experiences, provide instruction, coaching, and evaluation of student achievement of competencies in student clinical experiential learning experiences, high fidelity simulation, and clinical nursing skills. Instruct best practices in lab and simulation for the undergraduate and graduate programs. Interact with faculty and staff and engage with students to cultivate, support, and facilitate learning activities that promote USF-CON simulation as a state-of-the-art experiential learning site. Supervise students in clinical practicum experiences, teach in planned clinical skills/simulation lab sessions, validate student mastery of required skills, and prepare and set-up for clinical lab experiences.

25% Integrate the use of patient simulation scenarios, virtual reality, standardized patient standards, and computer-based learning systems into the education and competency development of nursing students. Facilitate and debrief simulated experiences. Compile educational material and supportive documents and props to enhance teaching and learning.

15% Contribute to developing and implementing policies, procedures, and practices for the Simulation Center. Implement and evaluate new simulation scenarios and simulation tools. Stay abreast of current research and other educational initiatives.

5% Participate in gathering and analyzing quality improvement data. Work with assistant simulation directors, and Executive Director of Experiential Learning to ensure the college is compliant with accreditation standards, including those of CCNE and sustaining processes that are in alignment with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare criteria for accreditation, INACSL, and ASPE. Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging technologies and clinical applications, including basic theory, design, and implementation. Solicit instructor and student feedback following simulation experiences to analyze the impact of simulation on the learning process.
