SBA Portfolio Manager (Finance)

What You'll Do:

  • Prepare written credit approval memoranda and ancillary forms for SBA credit facilities

  • Structure and underwrite SBA credit facilities in a manner which achieves the business profitability goals while staying within the bank's risk parameters and conforms with SBA SOP

  • Review and analyze various types of individual and corporate financial statements

  • Participate in customer and prospect calls as part of the underwriting and due diligence process

  • Establish and maintain relationships with community bankers, business bankers, SBA team members within Wintrust Community Banks to appropriately service the existing SBA portfolio and ensure continued SBA compliance.

  • Work with charter banks to evaluate SBA servicing requests using a thorough knowledge of loan policy, guidelines, procedures, and SBA standard operating procedures.  When appropriate, prepare credit memorandums documenting servicing approvals.

  • Assist in the closing of loans, including reviewing internal and external documentation for accuracy

  • Assist with SBA audits

  • Executes exemplary portfolio management via the following by:

    • Coordinate quarterly SBA problem loan discussions with charter banks

    • Maintaining appropriate risk rating on all SBA credits at all times

    • Managing administrative past dues to 0% at all times

    • Managing delinquencies as close to 0% at all times

    • Keeping documentation exceptions to a minimum

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-3 years' commercial underwriting and/or portfolio management experience

  • SBA underwriting experience preferred

  • Formal credit training is a plus

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business-related field such as accounting or finance

  • Sound understanding of commercial credit analysis techniques including cash flow, balance sheet analysis, evaluation of collateral and personal financial condition

  • Expertise in spreading financial statements

  • Strong organizational and time management skills along with the ability to proactively manage and prioritize workflow

  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment

  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with nCino loan origination platform a plus

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $71,000 - $92,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience.
