We are currently looking for a Materials Planner. This position will be responsible for purchases of components and raw materials to be used in the manufacture of medical devices.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the patients we serve and an unrelenting desire to improve our business and products. The candidate must have a passion for manufacturing operations, a strong continuous improvement foundation, problem solving skills, interpersonal skills, and be able to work in a high-paced team-oriented environment.
This is an open position based in the Eatontown Site, part of the East Manufacturing Region. This site supports Cranial and Spinal Technologies, a fast paced growing business that delivers lifesaving and life sustaining products to millions of patients each year.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Sources, purchases, plans, and schedules the movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related material through production and inventory process.
  • Identifies raw material, component, and related requirements from engineering for material specifications and production schedules.
  • In front-end procurement mode, analyzes data and determines factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.
  • Coordinates and follows up with production, warehouse, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services.
  • Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.
  • May monitor performance of suppliers and collaborate on demand/supply analysis planning.
  • Maintains MRP as per the production schedules, lead times and safety stock level requirements for optimal inventory.
  • Manages Purchase Requisitions in SAP and obtains approvals prior to communicating the orders to suppliers.
  • Provides technical assistance to ensure accurate master data in Agile and SAP
  • Collaborate with accounts payable to ensure product receipts and invoice processing are consistent with the vendor terms
  • Acts as point of contact between suppliers and Medtronic and schedules SIOP meetings for forecast alignment.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (specifically, Excel).
  • Knowledge of Ariba solutions/services.
  • Understanding of Procurement processes and Buyer/Supplier interfaces in Ariba.
  • Experience working with SAP, Agile and Blue yonder
  • APICS, CSCP, CPIM, ISM, CPSM, or CPSD certification preferred.
  • Experience with sourcing and/or supplier management for products or services within an FDA-regulated medical device, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical industry is a strong plus.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written) and internal/external partnering skills.
  • The ability to negotiate with suppliers to reach agreement on optimal contract terms, pricing and conditions.
  • Strong working knowledge of contract documentation, interpretation, and strategic sourcing processes and trends.
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong quantitative skills, independent thinking, and a high level of initiative.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to project milestones.
  • Requires exceptionally sound judgment, decision making abilities, proven management skills, and ability to influence others across the company.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team is essential for success.
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility and earns trust of others at all levels of the organization

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$63,200.00 - $94,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
