Senior Accountant (Finance)

Overview

As Senior Accountant, you'll provide the primary advanced financial support for Casa's multiple programs.  You will handle complex accounting processes, lead the month end close, support financial reporting and analysis, and serve as a key resource to external clients and internal staff. 

This position will work directly with the CFO, Executive Leadership team, and Board of Directors, contributing analysis, forecasting and project deliverables in support of the organization's short- and long-term initiatives.

Responsibilities

General Accounting

You will have ownership in keeping a clean general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate journal entries, A/P, A/R, payroll, bank and credit card transactions, working closely with the rest of the Finance team.  Oversight over the accuracy, completeness and reconciliation of records will be performed monthly.

Report Building

You will utilize software to produce standard and custom financial statements for department heads, Executive Leadership, and the Board of Directors.  The creation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts will be under your leadership.  With the addition of new services and programs, ad hoc reporting and analytics will be needed, utilizing business analytical tools to extract useful information from multiple data sources.

Customer Focus

You will be a critical Finance liaison, working closely with the team members to address billing, payment and other accounting concerns.  Casa employees across all functions and levels will leverage your expertise and guidance on financial matters such as contracts, insurance, grants, donations, and compliance.  Coordination of audits, including the annual financial audit, will be spearheaded by you.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with thorough knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ERP financial systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively through solid interpersonal skills, written and verbal, while displaying comfort working with Executive Level Leadership
  • Desire to thrive in a dynamic, growing environment

 Requirements

  • Must be able to be associated with Casa de Amparo through Community Care Licensing (CCL), which typically includes clearance by FBI, DOJ and CACI.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including lifting up to 25 lbs, crouching, sitting for extended periods, and climbing stairs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must meet applicable health and safety requirements, including CPR/First Aid certification (if required for the role), TB clearance, drug screening (as applicable), and proof of required immunizations.
