Microgrid Systems Senior Lab Engineer (Finance)



The Microgrid business is central to Schneider Electric's New Energy Landscape Strategy and is a key pillar of our Sustainability, Digitization, and Electrification agenda. It continues to gain momentum and growth across key geographies, helping customers revolutionize and reshape the distributed energy landscape along their electrification and sustainability journeys.

The Microgrid Line of Business provides state of the art Energy Management and Power Management software helping our customers to make the most of their Distributed Energy Resources.

With a multi-countries R&D footprint, the Line of Business has rapidly grown over the past three years and is continuing its evolution to enhance its execution speed and support its growth ambitions.

The R&D System test team is key in the Microgrid journey, as a gate keeper of the system quality. End-to-end system verification and Validation engineers are based in one of the Microgrid Lab, this position is open for the state of the art Microgrid Lab in Andover, MA.

Part of a global team, the end-to-end system test engineer will have the following activities

What will you do?

  • Synchronize with the other integration, verfication and validation teams to define the scope of testing
  • Build test cases leveraging the hardware equipment of the lab
  • Configure and tune lab equipment as required by the test cases
  • Run test cases, document results and raise issues in the bug tracking system
  • Conduct experimnetation and learn from lab equipment and DER suppliers on Electrical distribution, controllers and DER behaviors, limitations, specificities
  • Document and share back learning to the Line of Business and country teams
  • Participate in the creation of test and TVDA reports as required by the different offers
  • Support the lab manager in providing demonstration and trainings to internal or external stakeholders

Who will you report to?

  • You will report to the R&D test leader. This role is a hybrid position. You are required to report to the Andover, MA laboratory, MA, a minimum of 2-3 days a week, it can be more are requested by the need of test run

What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in a closely related field such as power management in low or medium voltage power systems, energy storage management, generator control systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of distributed energy resources
  • Experience building or supporting monitoring and control systems architectures
  • Experience in automation and algorithms programming
  • Familiarity with communication protocols and interfaces such Modbus, DNP3 or Rest API, MQTT
  • Familiarity with system engineering and modeling
