Quality Manager (Project Management)

JOB OVERVIEW:

This role supports the mission and Core Values of HGC Industries by developing the necessary corporate-wide processes and procedures that conform to IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards while assembling and leading a team responsible for quality assurance, quality control, and quality systems. The Quality Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that employees are properly trained and supervised in the proper technique and use of various types of measurement, product inspection procedures, work instruction, procedural reviews, and other objectives set forth by the organization and/or its customers.  They will be responsible for building a trusting, high-performing team, building positive relationships with customers, and achieving the annual goals for the quality department. This will be accomplished through strong knowledge and experience in quality systems (specifically IATF 16949 and ISO14001), root cause analysis, data collection/analysis, and project management. These systems will support HGC and its customers' strategic goals. Success for the Quality Manager will be achieved by building positive working relationships with their coworkers and customers and meeting the department's goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Provides coaching and mentoring to enhance the knowledge and perspective of the organization's team members. Prepares quality team members for new opportunities and/or advancement within the department and organization
  • Builds solid, trusting relationships between internal and external stakeholders
  • Build and maintain a quality system compliant with IATF16949 and ISO14001
  • Leads process and procedural development and validation activities including:
    • APQP (Advance Product Quality Planning)
    • DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis)
    • PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis)
    • Work instructions
    • Process Flow
    • Design/Process Reviews
    • 8D problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Develops and supports product improvement and cost savings initiatives and proposals
  • Follows and reviews active projects by maintaining project activity trackers, attending project review meetings, and signing off on project phase completions
  • Provides quality support as necessary to customer during all phases of product development
  • Performs and supports internal and external audits as necessary
  • Supports the purchasing department with supplier audits

  • Proficient math skills, including unit-of-measure conversion calculations

  • High level of emotional intelligence

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a technical field or at least ten years experience in Quality Engineering
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 3+ years experience in automotive preferred
  • Certified Quality Engineer, IATF 16949 or ISO14000 auditor – a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sitting for long periods
  • Occasionally lifting, moving, and carrying up to 50 pounds                             

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Manufacturing plant and office employees can/will be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, odors, chemicals, and other airborne particles.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Less than 5%

CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Exempt

SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

LOCATION:  (On-Site, Indianapolis (Martindale-Brightwood area)
