Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Location: Mooresville ReStore - 121 Norman Blvd, Mooresville, NC

*Local, non-CDL. No late evening or Sunday hours


Position Purpose

The Donations Driver is responsible for safely operating Habitat Charlotte Region trucks to pick up and deliver donated goods. This role combines safe driving, excellent customer service, and teamwork to ensure our ReStores receive high-quality donations that support Habitat's mission.


Essential Functions

  • Safely drive and operate 16'–26' straight trucks in full compliance with DOT, DMV, and FMCSA regulations.
  • Navigate routes efficiently while adhering to Habitat's safe and lawful driving standards.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record per Habitat and insurance requirements.
  • Pick up donations according to scheduled routes and provide receipts/documentation to donors.
  • Assess donations on-site to ensure items meet ReStore standards; document and communicate rejected items appropriately.
  • Interact with donors in a courteous, respectful, and professional manner.
  • Represent Habitat Charlotte Region positively with donors, volunteers, customers, and the community.
  • Collaborate effectively with teammates and demonstrate strong customer service skills.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and flexibility to meet operational needs, including occasional overtime.
  • Adhere to Habitat Charlotte Region's Code of Conduct and organizational policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Ability to drive 16'–26' commercial motor vehicles safely.
  • Current and valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy items and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented.

Work Environment

  • Outdoor work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Frequent driving and sitting in a box truck.
  • Work in warehouse and dock settings.

Physical Demands

  • Lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance and 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Frequent standing, squatting, bending, stair climbing, and repeated entry/exit from trucks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
