Director, Government Affairs (Project Management)



What you will do

The Director, Government Affairs is a strategic leader driving Clarios' advocacy, policy, regulatory, and stakeholder engagement efforts. This role is U.S. focused, but partners closely with global and regional teams—including Legal and other functions—to advance business priorities and ensure regulatory compliance. The Director will leverage expertise in energy, critical minerals, FEOC (Foreign Entity of Concern) rules, supply chain resilience, trade, and environmental policy to position Clarios for long-term competitiveness.

How you will do it

  • Lead Clarios' advocacy on critical minerals, battery technology, advanced energy storage, and related supply chain policies, including Treasury FEOC rules, DOD and DOE regulatory actions.
  • Monitor, analyze, and influence legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Represent Clarios in policy dialogues to shape frameworks governing access to critical resources and technologies.
  • Develop and execute strategies to engage with key federal agencies.
  • Cultivate and sustain trusted, bipartisan relationships with policymakers, Congressional offices, federal regulators, and key external stakeholders.
  • Position Clarios as a thought leader in critical minerals, battery production, energy storage, supply chain resilience, and circular economy solutions by engaging in high-level dialogues and partnerships.
  • Guide Clarios participation in coalitions, trade associations, and multilateral policy forums to strengthen the company's influence on critical minerals and energy policy debates.
  • Provide strategic counsel to internal stakeholders, ensuring internal awareness of government actions and understanding of potential impact on the business.

What we look for

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline (e.g. Political Science, Public Administration, Law, Communications, Engineering,  Chemistry or related field) required (Master's or JD preferred).
  • Minimum of [10] years of experience in relevant government affairs, community and stakeholder engagement, or public policy roles. Minimum of 10 years of experience in relevant federal government, energy/critical minerals policy, stakeholder engagement, or government affairs roles.
  • Strong knowledge of governmental and regulatory processes at federal level.
  • Proven track record building bipartisan coalitions, securing federal program support, and managing advocacy campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of energy policy, critical minerals, FEOC rules, supply chain dynamics, and trade issues.
  • Experience building managing complex policy portfolios and public-private partnerships in collaboration with U.S. government and external partners.  

Preferred

  • Experience working in, or with, manufacturing or industrial organizations is a plus.
  • Experience in a Federal Agency or in a Capitol Hill office a plus.
  • Washington D.C. located preferred.
