Risk Management/Insurance Specialist - Remote (Biotech)



The E.W Scripps company is hiring a Risk Management/Insurance Specialist. This individual will support and interact with contacts at Scripps locations and insurance providers on a variety of risk management matters. Support claim reviews including making decisions on claims management strategies. Support contract reviews and issue insurance certificates.  Review, reconcile and pay all insurance company loss and premium billing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Respond to daily mail, e-mail and phone calls providing direction on general Risk Management questions and policies.
  • Review and make decisions on limited scope/low impact contracts regarding insurance and indemnification language.
  • Manage the insurance certificates process in coordination with Risk Management guidelines and company priorities.
  • Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Work directly with brokers and claims adjusters to resolve questions and issues. 
  • Coordinate with HR and internal resources to resolve any documentation or policy compliance issues.
  • Support and drive claims management activities for low to mid-scale loss exposure in conjunction with the department management.
  • Review and reconcile casualty loss runs, prepare draft payment materials for insurance companies and submit detailed information as necessary to insurance brokers.
  • Gather and draft information as required for insurance policy renewals, participate in policy renewal discussions/meetings with insurance companies and brokers.
  • Assist with preparation of insurance budget, premium allocations and maintaining a record of all costs.
  • Manage the tracking of specific assets for insurance purposes.
  • Prepare quarterly workers compensation benchmark analysis. 
  • Assess and identify trends for potential areas of concern. 
  • Support both Risk Management and Security programs, including participating in investigations. 
  • Analyze claims to determine cause and if additional action is needed. 
  • Create and assign training, set company guidelines and communication to address any potential risk hazards.
  • Perform special project and other duties as assigned.
     

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA or equivalent experience required, or equivalent work experience
  • Generally, 3+ year's experience in insurance preferred
     

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Knowledge of risk management practices
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat a plus
  • Self-motivated, ability to perform effectively while performing multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
     

Work Environment

Some travel may be required
