Close Protection Manager (Finance)



JOB SUMMARY

The Close Protection Manager (CPM) plans, coordinates, makes critical decisions and provides for the safety and security of client executives by devising strategic operations and performing close protection and/or transportation assignments. This highly independent position reports to the Director of Risk Management and is responsible for hiring protection staff, managing a protection budget & timekeeping, reconnaissance, route planning, and investigating/assessing threats.

Core Duties Include:
  1. Communication with executive leadership to gather information needed to plan, organize, and implement all security-related tasks.
  2. CONUS and OCONUS travel, drafting plans, schedules, logistics and support for the mission by making critical operational decisions to ensure successful implementation.
  3. Conduct advance reconnaissance and threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments ahead of planned events or travel.
  4. Identify/develop cost effective countermeasures and other mitigations and coordinate, hire and/or contract other parties for support.
  5. Manage timekeeping and budget for program including travel expenses, equipment, training requirements and certifications for personnel. .
  6. Coordinate contingency plans and medical response plans to emergencies and maintain training and certifications.
  7. Exercise sound operational judgment and flexibility to shifting priorities and challenges.
  8. Conduct route planning/reconnaissance and mobile security.
  9. Provide close protection and other security-related functions for assigned principal, as needed, lead countersurveillance operations and coordinate with other support parties when required.
  10. Other duties, as assigned.

ADDITIONAL KEY SUCCESS ACTIVITIES
  1. Create, revise and contribute to the development/refinement of standard operating procedures associated with travel and event planning and execution .
  2. Provide guidance and interpretation about security standards, practices, and programs to support regional and global business and security initiatives.
  3. Brief executives on geopolitical developments, incidents and trends that could affect client business and personnel.
  4. Prepare concise and comprehensive investigation reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending upon the nature of the position

Basic Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Preferred
  • Close Personal Protection License, North Carolina Department of Public Safety
  • NJ Private Security License
  • A minimum of three (3) years of Law Enforcement or Military background experience
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify complex security issues and customize, implement/execute innovative processes and solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure in complex situations
  • Proven "customer service" and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, execution, and implementation
  • Ability to travel upwards of 130 days per year with no international travel restrictions
  • Exceptional Communication Skills and Physical Fitness
  • A minimum of three (3) years of executive protection and security driving experience for a C-suite executive

Education / Experience
  • A high school diploma/GED is required. A bachelor's degree is preferred.

Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing)

  • Current NC Armed Close Protection Specialist license
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification; EMT or Paramedic certification preferred
  • Completion of a recognized executive protection training course, including security driving
  • Ability to create and follow operational plans and manage trip requirements with little or no supervision
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful conditions
  • Ability to use good judgment and act in a decisive manner in emergency situations
  • Attention to detail with written and verbal skills
  • Excellent planning and organization skills; attention to detail
  • Computer skills; Microsoft Office

WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • May be exposed to stressful situations.

  • May be required to work additional hours without advance notice.
  • Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for up to 8 hours per day and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
