Facility & EHS Supervisor – Altec Parts Distribution (Finance)

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Altec Parts Distribution Facility & EHS Supervisor serves as a champion for Altec's safety and environmental programs, managing safety and environmental processes that enable the Parts organization and its multiple sites to stay compliant with safety and environmental regulations.

The preferred candidate will need to be located in St. Joseph, Missouri and will potentially have direct reports.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety
• Leads accident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions
• Leads and coordinates safety RCI events
• Conducts safety and environmental training and education programs
• Implements safety recognition and rewards programs
• Conducts Job Safety Analysis
• Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
• Manages and administers the Altec APSMS system and hazard reporting system.
• Serves as Assistant Primary Emergency Response Coordinator
• Interfaces with the Corporate Safety Manager regarding implementation of Corporate Safety Program

Environmental
• Leads and coordinates environmental RCI events
• Manages the Hazardous Waste Program
• Maintains inventories of hazardous materials & wastes, using waste tracking systems to ensure materials are handled properly
• Manages and administers the online SDS records for the facility
• Serves as Assistant Spill Team Leader for HAZWOPER certified responders
• Coordinates maintenance of the spill response equipment
• Coordinates and communicates "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances
• Assists in permitting for Air, Storm Water, and Hazardous Waste
• Conducts routine Hazardous Waste, Storm Water, and SPCC inspections
• Interfaces with Corporate Environmental Manager regarding implementation of Corporate Environmental Program

Regulatory
• Serves as primary contact person with EPA and OSHA regulatory agencies
• Maintains all Environmental and Safety Governmental records
• Completes and files all Environmental and Safety regulatory reports and submits required governmental reports for EPA and OSHA compliance
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• High School Diploma required AND
• Bachelor's Degree and four years Altec experience, supervision & safety preferred or
• Bachelor's Degree and four years industrial safety related supervision, or
• Three years Altec Supervision with five years total applicable experience, or
• Eight years external industrial safety related supervision required
• Must be willing to travel up to 25-50% of time, potentially on short notice, which may include air travel
• Current Valid Driver's License
• Must be able to work with teams and work with minimal supervision
• Internal candidates will be an associate in good standing
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

OTHER POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
• Basic S&H Principles
• Basic application of regulatory standards (OSHA or DOT) - OHSA 30 hours training
• Application of simple hazard assessments (e.g. JHA/JSA)
• Basic Hazard recognition skills (e.g. Guarding, slips, etc.)
• Simple problem solving abilities (e.g. job and/or gap analysis, etc.)
• Root Cause Analysis - Participate in 5 whys, cause mapping
• Continuous Improvement at an individual level (e.g. Housekeeping, procedure, etc.)
• Operational Knowledge
• Basic IH Knowledge

The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.
