We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Construction Liaison, with 20+ years of experience, to join our Water Division as part of our construction management team on construction projects within the NYC Metropolitan Area, with an emphasis on design-build projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. As a Construction Liaison, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water resilience facilities, park facilities and general building projects to ensure successful coordination between design and construction teams to execute large scale design-build projects, with the support of the Arcadis' Design Engineer, Design Services During Construction Manager, and Project Executive.

The initial assignment will likely be for a large, high-profile, progressive design build resiliency project in lower Manhattan.

Role accountabilities:

The Construction Liaison will be responsible for managing day-to-day communication and coordination between the Arcadis design team and contractors on major design-build contracts. This role includes providing full-time on-site representation, acting as a liaison to design staff to address contractor RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings. The liaison will coordinate periodic field visits by various design disciplines to support construction activities and resolve field issues. Additionally, they will perform technical reviews of construction plans, specifications, and project changes to ensure compliance with the design intent.

The Construction Liaison will organize, monitor, and control the collection of field documentation required for engineers-of-record to certify the work. They will oversee back-office record-keeping, general correspondence, and the preparation of reports and deliverables. Responsibilities also include monitoring site safety, ensuring compliance with project permit conditions, and facilitating coordination with City agencies. The liaison will work closely with contractors to maintain project goals related to cost, schedule, quality, and change control.

Strong communication skills are essential, as the liaison will represent the design team in meetings related to progress, project updates, safety, scheduling, and contract administration involving contractors, clients, local agencies, and the community. Additionally, the liaison will supervise Arcadis construction management staff, assisting with professional development planning, career progress tracking, mentorship, and training initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in similar roles either as a Construction Manager, Construction Liaison with major design firms, or contractors managing design delivery on DB Projects or similar.
  • Professional Engineer - New York (active).
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage Arcadis personnel and remain responsive to Corporate requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Large-scale design-build project experience.
  • Large-scale municipal water resiliency and flood protection experience.
  • Active participation in a regional or national professional association.
  • Previous experience with NYC construction projects including coordination with agencies such as NYCDEP, NYCDDC, NYC Parks, NYCDOT, and other NYC agency personnel.
  • DBIA certification
  • Proficiency with scheduling and CAD software.
  • Interest and ability to network, support proposals and contribute to firm growth in the NYC construction market.
