Russian Language Instructor - GRIT Training, DLIFLC Monterey, CA (July - September 2025) (Education)
ICA is currently seeking experienced Post DLPT/GRIT Russian language instructors to teach Post DLPT adult professionals, in person at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA. The candidates should have at least two years of work experience teaching the Russian language to adult students on an intensive basis (8 hours daily).
Job Details:
- Pay rate: $30.00 per hour
- Location: Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA
- Travel, lodging, per diem included
- Period of performance: 7/8/2025 - 9/12/2025
- Training days: Monday through Friday
- Schedule: 7:45 am - 4:45 pm
- This project will involve a team-teaching/instructor rotation
Duties:
- Plan and conduct Russian language classes using a variety of teaching techniques and approaches, to develop students' listening, reading, and speaking skills;
- Create training materials and work collaboratively with other instructors on all program-related matters;
- Perform other teaching and administrative duties, as needed, under the guidance of the Training Manager(s) and Supervisor(s);
- Administer weekly quizzes and assessments, and conduct other informal or formal evaluations of students' learning progress;
- Provide monthly written reports of the students' progress to the supervisor and jointly develop plans to address any potential issues;
- Maximize the use of instructional technology and online learning resources into teaching to support independent learning;
- Adjust teaching techniques and approaches to the student's individual learning styles and professional needs;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a foreign language, linguistics, or a related field
- Minimum two years of full-time experience teaching adult professional students
- Experience teaching the Post-DLPT program preferred
- Experience teaching US military students
- OPI scores:
- ILR 3 or Superior (ACTFL) in Russian
- ILR 2 or Advanced (ACTFL) in English
- Familiarity with DLPT, OPI, and other government-administered tests
- Knowledge of the ILR and/or ACTFL scales
- Experience integrating instructional technology in teaching and assessment
- Experience using online meeting platforms for teaching such as Zoom, Teams, or WebEx
- Native speaker of the Russian language
