Associate Manager, Sustainability (Finance)

The Company's Total Rewards package is at or above industry levels. The expected base salary range for this position is between 124,800.00 USD - 163,800.00 USD. Job related skills, experience, education, and location will be considered in setting actual starting base salary. In addition to your base salary and depending on job level, eligibility, and performance, a total package may include profit sharing, a short-term incentive and/or long-term incentives. Join us in San Francisco, CA, and help shape the future of sustainability at SC Johnson Lifestyle Brands (LSB). Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, you'll lead key initiatives-from forecasting metrics and managing certifications to driving product claims and embedding sustainability into innovation. You'll collaborate with global teams to turn strategy into action, support new product development, and empower our sales force with compelling sustainability messaging. While focused on the Method brand, your impact will span across North America, advancing our sustainability goals company-wide.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Lead strategic metrics forecasting and oversee preparation of material for executive read-outs across sustainability reporting pillars with partners from headquarters (pillars: plastics, chemistry, carbon, waste and deforestation). Leverage data analysis from team analyst to create forecasted project plans for internal project pipeline additions.
  • Serve as sustainability subject matter expert in new product development meetings for the Method brand and on strategic global projects across brands.
  • Lead research on new sustainability product claims territories and partner with headquarters business to get new certifications added to SC Johnson's globally approved list of certifications
  • Serve as sustainability expert in meetings with retail buyers and executives for our largest retailer accounts - preparing content for presentation and serving as technical expert for product and sustainability discussions.
  • Provide internal thought leadership on Sustainability, especially on recyclability, carbon footprint, and ingredient choices.
  • Lead innovative partnerships to include pre-competitive working groups in strategically beneficial sustainability areas and qualification of new packaging and ingredient formats and feedstocks.
  • Co-lead organizational upskilling sessions and Earth Month programming on key LSB sustainability pillars to help teach the organization and salesforce about our sustainability program.
  • Facilitate the bringing in of sustainability consumer insights to guide and champion further sustainable product differentiation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in Sustainability Program Management or Analyst role
  • Bachelors degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering or related field
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS:

  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional command of Excel
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills - especially translating technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working with Sustainability KPIs with a focus on operationalizing sustainability improvement plans
  • Experience managing 3rd party certifications for a portfolio of products or facilities including external data submissions, data quality checks and regular audits
  • Knowledge and understanding of current regulatory environment impacting CPG companies in USA and UK/EU (EPR regulation, CSRD regulation etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of carbon accounting frameworks (GHG protocol and/or ISO product LCA standards, organizational scope 1/2/3 accounting)
  • Knowledge on packaging sustainability - tradeoffs based on material choices and limitations to recyclability
  • Experience working with consumer insights to inform product development and design

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Full time position
  • This role is in San Francisco, CA.
  • 4 days a week in-office requirement, 1 day a week remote work available
  • This role is not offering relocation assistance
  • Travel approx. 15%
