Position Summary:

The Florida Center for Nursing (FCN) Data Analyst will play a vital role in advancing the organization's mission to research and address nursing workforce challenges, including supply and demand, recruitment, retention, and utilization of nurses across Florida. This position is key in converting raw data sourced from state agencies and educational institutions into actionable insights that inform healthcare workforce policy, strategic planning, and program development.

Collaborating closely with businesses stakeholders, IT partners, and subject matter experts, the analyst develops data-driven insights to facilitate informed decision-making and improve FCN operations. Responsibilities include managing the full data lifecycle-from collection and cleaning to analysis and presentation-to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance across multiple datasets. The analyst is also responsible for the development and maintenance of user-friendly reporting tools and dashboards, broadening access to timely and meaningful information.

Operating independently, the analyst will conduct data analysis, interpret trends, and support the continuous improvement of FCN's data systems and analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in Excel, data organization, and basic statistical analysis, with an interest in healthcare workforce development.Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the research or data analysis responsibilities and a minimum of one year of research experience; or a Master's degree in one of the same fields. Progressively responsible work experience may substitute for the college on a year for year basis.

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:

  • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
  • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree

Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.

Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a field involving data analysis or statistics (e.g., Health Informatics, Public Health, Statistics, etc.)
  • Experience working with workforce, healthcare, or education-related data.
  • High proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar data visualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with Qualtrics, Microsoft SharePoint, and Monday.com.
  • Knowledge of data from public health or state agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Collect, import, and clean raw data from multiple sources including the Florida Department of Health, Board of Nursing, and Nursing Education programs.
  • Organize and maintain datasets in Excel, utilizing advanced functions such as pivot tables, formulas, and data cleaning techniques to ensure quality and usability.
  • Use SAS to conduct descriptive and comparative statistical analyses of nursing licensure and education data (e.g., LPN, RN, APRN) at the state and regional levels.
  • Analyze and report on NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN first-attempt pass rates across Florida nursing programs.
  • Summarize trends and performance metrics related to prelicensure nursing student results on licensure examinations.
  • Monitor and track accreditation statuses of Florida's prelicensure nursing education programs.
  • Consolidate and format large datasets; create tables, charts, graphs, and dashboards to visually communicate findings effectively.
  • Prepare datasets and conduct analysis in support of FCN research projects related to nursing education, supply and demand, and workforce trends.
  • Summarize findings in written reports, presentations and data visualizations for stakeholders and policymakers.
  • Provide responsive support for external data inquiries and custom data requests.
  • Support planning and coordination of established and upcoming project phases.
  • Ensure secure handling of sensitive data received from state and government agencies.
  • Participate in committees, conferences, workshops, and outreach activities to present findings and represent the Florida Center for Nursing.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external partners to support ongoing workforce data initiatives.
