Casual Pre Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (Finance)



The Pre-Anesthesia Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner team is looking for a casual part-time Advanced Practice Nurse to work in collaboration with the Anesthesia and Surgical teams at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware.

The Pre-anesthesia APRN is an Advanced Practice Nurse who provides direct and indirect patient care to Nemours patients prior to procedure and/or diagnostic studies requiring sedation. Care is provided in a variety of settings including the pre-surgical care area, medical imaging/ interventional radiology, inpatient units, PICU, NICU and ambulatory surgery centers.

The Pre-Anesthesia Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner team is looking for a part-time Advanced Practice Nurse to work in collaboration with the Anesthesia and Surgical teams at Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing pre-surgical history and physical examinations
  • Ordering laboratory testing, consults, and ordering pre-operative medications.
  • The APRN must work collaboratively with the other APRN team members, anesthesia providers, surgeons, and the peri-operative nursing team.
  • Formulating assessment and treatment plans of pediatric patients.
  • Communicating with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition.
  • Educating parents/caregivers on patient condition and plan of care.
  • Triaging and responding to phone calls from patient families.
  • Accurately recording patient information in the electronic medical record.
  • The NP must be able to work independently as well as part of multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications
  • Three years of related clinical experience required
  • Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure required
  • Active Delaware Advanced Practice Nurse Licensure, or Physician Assistant Licensure with or without prescriptive authority required
  • Delaware Controlled Substance Registration (CSR), Federal DEA registration with Delaware Address
  • Current Acute Care or Primary Care certification required
  • Current AHA BLS required
  • Excellent written, phone, and interpersonal communication skills required
