About the Role

Essity is looking for a Process Lab Specialist to provide technical support to the operating group of the De-ink Plant, Paper Machines and Wastewater Treatment Plants.  Their primary tasks are to collect samples at various stages throughout the processes, measure the quality as it relates to developed guidelines, and report any quality issues to the operating teams. The Process Specialists play a key role in controlling the chemical and raw material costs for our three De-inking facilities

What You Will Do

  • Analyze Raw Materials, evaluating alternative wastepaper sources, rejecting off quality paper and materials at various stages, measure effectiveness of several process chemicals.
  • Conduct laboratory testing and play an active role in prompting changes necessary to optimize the process and troubleshoot during upset conditions.
  • Initiate and assist in calibration and instrument audits of online process monitoring equipment.
  • Responsible for routine performance evaluations of cleaners, screens, deckers, clarifiers, and scrubbers in all departments.
  • Primary person responsible for receiving several chemicals used in the Deink Plant and as needed for the Paper Machine area, oversee and manage the team performing the chemical unloading process when on shift and applicable.
  • Assist in new process/product development through lab trials and results analysis. Maintain process control reports and follow-up with operations group.
  • Provides Technical support during fiber prep trials as needed.
  • Responsible for testing, through use of electronic air monitoring equipment, the atmosphere inside confined spaces for safe entry.  Also responsible for calibrating and maintaining the air monitoring equipment.

Who You Are

  • 2 - or 4-year degree required in Biology, Water Treatment, Environmental, Paper Science/technology, or similar lab-sciences field. 
  • Must have a natural curiosity for material science, recycling, and or papermaking, who can learn and perform repeatedly a variety of laboratory activities in a rotating-shift environment. 
  • Able to work in teams and independently for 8-12 hour shifts including nights and weekends.

Compensation and Benefits:  

Expected Compensation 

$37.08 /hourly rate + benefits + shift premiums, weekend overtime and double-time apply.

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors such as knowledge, skills, and experience.
