Technical Engineering Specialist (Finance)



Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Technical Engineering Specialist will serve as a technical authority and trusted advisor, providing expertise on product performance, application development, and technical solutions for our specialty chemical portfolio. This role bridges R&D, customers, and business units to drive application innovation, resolve technical challenges, and support product adoption across targeted markets. The role will focus on delivering value-added solutions to customers while ensuring our products meet or exceed performance expectations in end-use applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Technical Expertise and Application Support
•    Provide deep technical understanding of product chemistry, application methods, and performance in real-world conditions.
•    Act as the go-to expert for troubleshooting technical challenges in product applications and customer operations.
•    Participate in application testing, performance evaluations, and lab-to-field validations to support customer trials.
•    Collaborate with R&D and analytical teams to develop and optimize products for targeted applications.
2.    Customer Engagement and Collaboration
•    Engage with customers to understand application requirements, operational challenges, and unmet needs.
•    Provide hands-on technical support for product trials, implementation, and troubleshooting.
•    Present technical findings, performance data, and solutions to customers in a clear and impactful manner.
3.    Product and Application Development
•    Identify opportunities for new product development or application enhancements based on market needs and customer feedback.
•    Develop and document application guidelines, best practices, and technical literature to support product adoption.
•    Work with cross-functional teams (R&D, Product Management, Sales) to align technical solutions with business strategies.
4.    Market and Industry Knowledge
•    Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities within targeted applications.
•    Develop and share insights into market requirements, regulatory considerations, and customer preferences.
•    Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, including technical papers, presentations, and industry conferences.
5.    Training and Mentoring
•    Provide technical training for internal teams (Sales, Product Line Management) and customers on product applications and performance.
•    Mentor junior technical staff in application development and problem-solving methodologies.

METRICS FOR SUCESS:
 
•    Participation in Customer Meetings
•    Facilitate monthly calls with Tech Services and Strategic Account Executives to identify gaps and needs in Product Technology offerings
o    Work with the Product Technology functional group in the development and implementation of new products
•    Work with Marketing to develop at least 4 Case Studies
•    Give a training in the Account Manager Training Program
•    Give more than 4 customer trainings
•    Participate in at least 2 industry events
•    Initiate at least one JIP with a client

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE: 

•    Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field (required).
•    Strong technical expertise in chemical product development and application.
•    Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
•    Clear, effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Customer-focused with strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
•    Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver presentations/training.
•    Familiarity with specialty chemicals and industrial applications.
•    Understanding of market trends, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
•    Experience in field trials, performance testing, and developing technical documentation.
