Consultant, Training- Custody Servicing or Brokerage Operations (Finance)

As a member of the COO Functional Training Team, the Training Consultant will work collaboratively with team members to deliver training solutions to the assigned business unit. Under general direction the Training Consultant will assist with defining learning solutions that support the functional requirements. The Training Consultant role involves designing, developing, and delivering functional training solutions, analyzing solutions for continuous improvement and undertaking appropriate operational and administrative aspects of the training curriculum.

Major Duties:

  • Work with management, business process consultants and/or subject matter experts to understand desired business outcomes and translate them into learning objectives.
  • Work with stakeholders to determine appropriate learning methodologies and functional training solutions.
  • Handle all types of analysis.
  • Develop project plans including the identification of subject matter experts where appropriate.
  • Design, develop, facilitate and deliver learning programs.
  • Evaluate training development programs for effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Maintain an inventory of training development programs/tools and schedules, their use according to management priorities.
  • Deliver a work product that requires minimal revision.
  • Serve as a key subject matter expert in program design and may mentor more junior staff.
  • Acts as a product and marketing manager for training programs
  • Responsible for multiple projects of various complexities
  • Represent the COO Training team in various meetings.

Area Specific Duties

  • Design, develop and maintain a training curriculum for the Asset Servicing Custody Servicing function which can be implemented and delivered regardless of geographic location.
  • Coordinate/deliver the new hire curriculum within the relevant geographic location.
  • Design and deliver training for existing systems and new system roll-outs.
  • Ensure that COO Training learning and development interventions are aligned with the Business Unit and/or enterprise-wide needs.
  • Consult with Custody Servicing management to provide ongoing support on training needs and business unit initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other global training teams. Provide backup as necessary.

Knowledge:

  • An experienced funds industry operations professional willing to develop their consulting, writing and presenting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to give and receive candid feedback
  • Can consult with business subject matter experts and translate SME knowledge into step-by-step exceptions management.

Experience:

  • Three to five years of capital markets operations experience, preferably in custody servicing or a similar role in financial services. OR
  • Three to five years of training consulting experience and a willingness to quickly learn all aspects of the custody servicing business.

Salary Range:
$74,200 - 126,200 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
