Athletic Trainer (Orthopedics) (Finance)



Nemours is seeking an Athletic Trainer (Full-Time), to join our Nemours team.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide comprehensive athletic training services to local high/middle school(s)/college athletes and other Nemours patients, ensuring the health and safety of student-athletes. The Outreach ATC will provide on-site preventive services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical equipment, under the supervision of a Nemours sports medicine physician. The ATC will work in their 5 practice domains including: Risk Reduction, Wellness and Health Literacy; Assessment, Evaluation and Diagnosis; Critical Incident Management; Therapeutic Intervention; and Health Care Administration and Professional Responsibility. Additionally, the ATC will support the Nemours Orthopedic Sports Medicine Clinic and sports OR, contributing to the overall Sports Medicine Program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site athletic training services during school hours and at athletic events including travel with teams as needed.
  • Develop and implement injury prevention programs.
  • Work with team physician(s) and coaches to implement sports performance programs.
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries including decisive and prudent response to emergency and life-threatening situations.
  • Maintain and document accurate records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation progress.
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, parents, and healthcare professionals regarding the status and care of student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with school and Nemours policies and procedures.
  • Assist in outpatient clinic with patient evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation plans.
  • Support the sports surgical program with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care Provides appropriate education to patients/families.
  • Develops and maintains strong community relations: physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, coaches, school personnel, and community leaders.
  • Manages time, sets and responds to personal and departmental priorities, uses resources prudently, works well independently for routine tasks.
  • Takes direction, thinks and acts proactively.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with a communication style that is open and fosters trust, credibility and understanding.
  • All other duties as assigned

Job Requirement
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience required.
  • One year of middle/high school sports medicine ATC experience preferred.
  • Must have BOC ATC Certification and be eligible for Florida ATC Licensure.
  • Must have American Heart Association BLS/AED Certification.
