Pathologist's Assistant (Finance)



Nemours is seeking a Pathologist's Assistant to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Pathologists' Assistant is a critical role in the Department of Pathology. Under the direction of the pathologist, performs gross analyses of surgical specimens submitted to the Pathology Department, assists with the completion of pathology procedures and autopsies and coordinates training of residents or medical students in surgical pathology as directed by pathologists.

  • Under the direction of the pathologist, performs gross analyses of surgical specimens submitted to the Pathology Department.
  • Accessions specimens accurately, checking labeling and other critical specimen information. Describes specimens appropriately, and dictates descriptions in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the performance of autopsies including performance of gross dissections and eviscerations.
  • Assists in histology with accessioning, tissue disposition, and sample delivery. Processes and prepares tissue specimens for review by pathologist.
  • Prepares frozen sections for rapid histologic examination by pathologist.
  • Coordinates training of residents or medical students in surgical pathology as directed by pathologists.

Job Requirements
  • Associate's Degree required. Completion of accredited Pathologist's Assistant program required.
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience required. 3+ years experience preferred.
  • Experience in a hospital pathology department preferred.
