Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Water Engineer / Hydraulic Modeler, to join our Resilience Water Team in Houston Texas.

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and independent professional to join our team locally with support from one of the best qualified consulting firms in the country. In this position you will collaborate with our experienced water professionals, support and drive the development of projects, interact and work with clients, and develop your technical capabilities.

Role accountabilities:

As a Water and Hydraulic Modeler, the role involves performing engineering activities related to water distribution, wastewater collection systems, and stormwater modeling. Key responsibilities will include conducting evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies, design, and construction for these systems. The position requires exercising independent judgment on project details, making preliminary selections, and adapting engineering alternatives to meet project needs. Additionally, the work may encompass a variety of water and wastewater infrastructure tasks, including treatment facilities design, utilities assessments, and system design. The role includes producing and reviewing technical reports, construction documents, specifications, and creating bid packages along with cost estimates for various projects.

Collaboration is essential, as the role involves assisting others in defining scope and objectives through research and fact-finding, aligned with a strong understanding of industry requirements and business needs. Ensuring compliance with Arcadis' practices, as well as quality and safety standards, is a critical aspect of the position. The role also requires facilitating coordination for timely completion and submission of project deliverables. Furthermore, regular participation in industry associations through attending workshops, delivering presentations, and staying updated on professional publications is encouraged as part of professional development and industry engagement.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or similar/higher degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.

Desired Skills/ Attributes
  • Hydraulic modeling & engineering experience for evaluations, investigations, planning, feasibility studies and modeling of water distribution, wastewater collection and stormwater systems.
  • ArcGIS experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; public speaking/presenting, effective communication with team members, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skills.
  • Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
  • Experience with collection system modeling, watershed modeling.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training Certification (EIT) or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Previous internship experience with an engineering consulting firm, municipality or other closely related work.
  • SWMM Modeling, ICM Modeling, HEC-RAS Modeling, HSMs Modeling, CFD Modeling, and groundwater unsaturated zone modeling experience.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $53,094 - $84,950. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
