We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing equipment and facility systems through preventative maintenance and expert troubleshooting.

OVERVIEW

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment and facility systems to support continuous production operations. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain equipment performance and uphold safety and quality standards in a high-tech ceramics manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical skills, experience with complex equipment, and a proactive approach to maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on manufacturing equipment, including fixtures, vacuum pumps, PLCs, and other critical systems, to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, including disassembling and troubleshooting vacuum pumps, PLCs, equipment cabinets, and other mechanical or electrical systems, to restore functionality.
  • Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect and maintain seals, gaskets, and other components to ensure equipment integrity and prevent leaks or failures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including PM schedules, repair logs, and parts inventory, using tools like Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols when working with hazardous materials (e.g., ceramic powders, liquid resins) and high-voltage equipment, conducting regular safety checks and audits.
  • Collaboration: Work with production and engineering teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, minimize production disruptions, and support equipment upgrades or installations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance processes, applying problem-solving skills to reduce downtime and enhance efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education and Experience: Associate's degree in Mechanical Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field and 8+ years' experience or a high school diploma with equivalent technical training and 10+ years' experience.
  • Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, with the ability to repair complex equipment like vacuum pumps and PLCs.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance processes and maintenance scheduling.
  • Knowledge of seals, gaskets, and other mechanical components used in industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle) or maintenance management software.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to ceramic powders, high-temperature equipment, and high-voltage systems.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Expertise in maintaining equipment in ceramics manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100) or quality management systems.
  • Certification in PLC programming, electrical systems, or mechanical maintenance (e.g., OSHA, CMRT, or equivalent).
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) or equipment diagnostics tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Location: On-site in Burlington, MA
  • Travel: Occasional travel (5-10%) may be required for tech transfer or supplier visits.
  • Schedule: Full-time, with flexibility for on-call support as needed. Ideal candidate would enjoy working 5 days, each week including Monday and Saturday with a floating weekend day during the week each week.
