Position Summary

The Industrial/Civil Foreman supervises the crew and coordinates equipment to demo, form, prep, material order, storm water drainage , concrete foundations, various roadbeds within the road, civil construction and industrial sites safely and efficiently to their customer with a profit.

Duties and Responsibilities

45% Responsibilities and Supervision

  • Know job estimates, quantities, scope, plan, and production schedules of the job.
  • Daily reporting of the crew, equipment, trucking, and product quantities by job cost codes.
  • Communicates with supervisor, customer, and crew members as needed.
  • Maintains a safe environment for crew and the public in job confines.
  • Assesses people for hire, performance, reward, and problem areas for correction or discipline.

35% Operations

  • Reviews job plans, and site layouts for efficient and quality concrete paving projects.
  • Evaluate and assign crew members job tasks and equipment as needed.
  • Oversees function of crew and equipment to make sure job requirements are met or exceeded to specifications.
  • Checking yields and communicating with customers or inspectors on progress and meeting specifications.
  • Leads by example by helping craftspeople and operators with tasks as needed.
  • Keeps site housekeeping and equipment clean.

15% Safety and Compliance

  • Follows company policy, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Reviews utility plan and conducts TAR daily or change of scope.
  • Provides and makes sure proper PPE is worn by employees.
  • Coordinates with the office on crew certifications.

5% Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Driver's License

Required Experience:
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated progressive experience as a foreman or equivalent in heavy civil and/or industrial construction.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :

Advanced:

  • Communicate and manage people effectively
  • Analyzes problems with the ability to solve.
  • Interact well with others at all levels of the organization
  • Planning skills

Proficient:

  • Reading and mathematical skills (+, -, *, /, %, whole, fraction and decimal #s)
  • Understanding survey grades and using survey equipment.
  • Organizational & time management skills

Basic

  • A bility to use a computer tablet for reporting in the company software

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education :

  • Associate's degree in construction or technology field OR trade school

Certifications/Licences Preferred:
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License
  • OSHA certified 8-10hour
  • First Aid Certificate
  • STS Certificate
  • Rigging Certificate

Preferred Experience :
  • Working in Highway Heavy Construction or Civil Concrete Paving for 7 years.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Capable of proficiently operating heavy equipment. Curb or Slipform Machine, Excavator and Breaker, Loader, Bobcat, Base Roller, and concrete ancillary equipment (saw, vibrator, and roller screed)
  • Surveying experience using Trimble equipment
  • Experience with mechanical repairs
  • Speak Spanish

Physical and Mental Demands

The following applies to all full-time positions within Barriere Construction Company A CRH Company.

  • Work more than 40 hours a week, which may include nights and weekends
  • Travel as required and work at different locations.
  • Ability to function under pressure, hot and cold environment, and meet deadlines
  • Work in hot, cold, and wet environments
  • Lead and guide your crew during difficult times when problems arise.
  • Lift 50 lbs.
  • Walk long distances.
