Pharmacist Informatics – Research, First Shift, Pharmacy Administration (Finance)

UC Health is hiring an Informatics Pharmacist in the Pharmacy Admistration Department at the University of Cincinnati's Medical Center

This is a Pharmacist position on the Pharmacy Informatics team. Epic certification in both Willow Inpatient and Beacon will be required. This position will work specifically on research protocol build, in collaboration with interprofessional research teams, and IDS pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Overall, this position joins a dynamic, collaborative, and committed research pharmacy team that works across interprofessional research and clinical teams to advance cutting edge drug therapy research and discovery.

Education: B.S. in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy is required. PharmD preferred degree.

License and Certification: Licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Ohio. EPIC Certification in application module must be obtained within the Introductory period where appropriate

Years of Experience: Required 2 years of pharmacy experience. Preferred 1 year EPIC training.

Required Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to organize information, define problems, develop resolutions and recommend action plans. Must possess a high level of organizational & workflow efficiency skills with attention to detail. Capable of relating to a wide range of age groups & demographic backgrounds. Demonstrate diplomacy, tact and a professional demeanor. Process organization, analysis, supervision and prioritization abilities. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products. Knowledge of Pharmacy operations & integration with other areas.

Expected starting salary range for this position is between $61.42/hr.- $81.43/hr.

The actual pay rate for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.

  • PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY)
    • Engages in population appropriate communication.

Coordinate & facilitate communication between internal & external parties on project/tasks related issues and developments. Independently works with cross functional teams. Support end users to develop & validate system solutions.

    3. Build, Configure, Testing Management- Apply medication & related system expertise to the development, analysis and implementation of enterprise-wide clinical system projects. Maintain and in-depth knowledge of UC Health pharmacy operations, policies and procedures through a close relationship with pharmacy administration and staff. Build & maintain medication related files to ensure medications can be safely ordered, dispensed, and administered. Analyze end user needs for developing & modifying systems to meet departmental as well as Ohio State Board of Pharmacy requirements. Work closely with end-users to define objectives, identify proposed systems for improvement in accordance with departmental procedures. Plan & conduct system testing, incorporating written test scripts. Analyze & resolve complex system issues through collegial relationship with all EPIC support teams. Develop & implement new functionality that improves clinical care delivery & patient safety. Document issues/projects in applicable issue tracking application, updating in a timely manner as appropriate.

    4. Production Support- Provide direct technical support as well as on-call support & resolution assistance of identified application problems. Adhere to compliance requirements with all applicable state & federal regulations. Work closely with other EPIC & IS teams as well as outside vendors to ensure proper system functionality. Identify or develop alternate resolutions to problems where appropriate. Issue Management & Change Control methods to implement system solutions. Support departmental efforts to improve customer satisfaction. Evaluate & monitor system performance and functionality to avoid potential issues.

    5. Customer Service- Ensure outstanding end-user support is provided, including ongoing monitoring of outstanding incident management issues, and collaboration with other areas to ensure customer issues are managed & supported in a timely manner. Adhere to and promote continual adoption of change improvement & support. Model outstanding customer service behavior, including timely and effective follow-up with customers.

    6. Miscellaneous- Maintain current proficiency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars. Participate in establishing job requirements & goals; perform duties at the desired level of competency. Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions. Serve as a representative on various hospital committees when assigned. Attend pharmacy department meetings upon request. Perform other duties as assigned.
